Meet the Team

Derek Cohlmia, DDS, a third-generation dentist, is dedicated to the overall health and well-being of his patients. Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Dr. Cohlmia’s passion for dentistry began at the University of Oklahoma, where he earned his undergraduate degree. He then pursued his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry, solidifying his commitment to providing exceptional care.

During his time in college and dental school, Dr. Cohlmia extended his service beyond the clinic, participating in mission trips both locally and globally, reflecting his heart for helping others. As an active member of the American Dental Association and the Oklahoma Dental Association, he stays engaged in the dental community to ensure his patients receive the highest quality of care.

In addition to patient care, Dr. Cohlmia is passionate about education. He leads a dental assisting school that offers accelerated, hands-on training for individuals pursuing a career in dentistry. Students thrive in the dynamic and comprehensive learning environment he provides, where they gain practical experience and real-world skills.

When he’s not busy creating healthy, beautiful smiles, Dr. Cohlmia enjoys traveling, playing tennis, and cheering on the OKC Thunder at basketball games. His leadership, expertise, and genuine care for both his patients and students make him an outstanding dentist and boss!

Melissa has an unwavering passion for serving others, she fosters a patient-first environment that drives both her work and leadership. Since 2002, Melissa has worn many hats, from expanded function dental assistant to practice manager and educator, excelling in each role.

A dedicated volunteer with Remote Area Medical and the Oklahoma Mission of Mercy, Melissa is also a proud member of the ADAA. Her commitment to ongoing personal and professional growth keeps her at the forefront of the field. As an educator, she strives to give every student the tools and guidance to achieve success. Upholding the highest ethical standards of integrity and excellence, Melissa is driven by her belief in putting patients’ needs first—an approach she instills in each of her students.

When she’s not shaping the next generation of dental professionals or caring for patients, Melissa enjoys traveling with her husband and indulging in shopping trips with her daughters. Her dedication and vibrant energy make her an invaluable part of our team!

Hayli has been a dedicated dental assistant since 2021, bringing warmth and enthusiasm to patients of all ages, with a special soft spot for our older patients. In the office, she wears many hats—you’ll often hear her cheerful voice on the phone, in addition to seeing her serve alongside the clinical team.

An adventurer at heart, Hayli has explored national parks and recently traveled to Disneyland and Hawaii. She leads an active lifestyle and enjoys spending her free time outdoors, whether she’s fishing, playing sports, or embracing nature’s beauty. Hayli’s vibrant energy and love for life make her an essential part of our team!

Camdyn has a passion for meeting new people and building meaningful patient relationships. She thrives during new patient exams, taking the time to connect and ensure each patient feels comfortable and valued. In addition to her patient care, Camdyn enjoys mentoring our dental assisting students, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for the field.

A true gem in our office, Camdyn’s excitement for her journey toward becoming a pediatric dentist shines through. She’s eager to combine her love for patient care with a sense of adventure, making a lasting impact on young smiles!
