Your Oral Health is Our Priority!
Get your beautiful, healthy teeth back with natural, affordable dentures in OKC. Dr. Derek Cohlmia and his Family Dental Center team offers a variety of partial and full removable denture options.
Dental Implants vs. Dentures
Many people in the OKC area come to our office looking for dental implants; however, a removable natural denture often is a better option for them. One advantage is that dentures cost less than the amount that a dental implant costs. Further, a tooth implant requires an invasive procedure where the dentist will drill into the bone of the jaw and remove roots and nerves. With natural looking dentures you can restore the look and feel of your natural teeth without an invasive dental implant procedure.
Full Dentures vs. Partial Dentures
Once you have decided on dental dentures rather than implants, crowns, bonding, or bridges to restore your smile, the next step is to determine the type of dentures you want. Our OKC dental office offers partial dentures and full dentures. This means that your denture restoration can replace a few teeth or an entire set of teeth. Next, you and Dr. Cohlmia will decide if you need upper dentures, lower dentures, or both. The last dental denture variant is removing the dentures. Some patients with sensitive gums prefer removable dentures because they can take out their false teeth at night and let their gums rest. Other OKC patients prefer permanent dentures because they cannot be removed, similar to their natural teeth.
Are Dentures Uncomfortable?
When you first get your dentures, you may feel slight discomfort because you are not used to the feeling and function of the dentures. However, over time your gums will form to your denture making it easier to eat the foods you love. During the first few weeks after you receive your dental dentures, Dr. Cohlmia will follow up with you to make sure they are fitting well and are not irritating your gums. If you ever have concerns about your dentures, Dr. Cohlmia would be happy to visit with you to restore the function and appearance of your smile.
